Project Descriptions
 |
TechnoCommercial:
In this project, campers become media savvy by analyzing the
manipulation techniques used by advertisers and then using them to make
their own commercial using video equipment and Windows Movie Maker. What
is so exciting about this project is that no high-tech devices are
required. If your camper has a video camera, web cam, digital camera, he
or she can complete the activities at home after the camp. |
|
 |
TechnoTrader:
Team up with fellow campers to make a
million as stockbrokers. Teams rely on the Daily Trader, a financial
newsletter that reports the latest developments and stock quotes of high
profile businesses. In an effort to make money teams trade stocks in
companies listed on the TechnoStock Exchange (TSE). Learning how the stock
market functions, each investment group keeps track of an investment
portfolio. Will you make a million or lose it ALL! |
|
 |
TechnoHero: In this project, students
present information about their personal hero. This person is someone
who has made a significant contribution, which has positively impacted
others. Using various resources they gather facts to create a profile of
their hero. This information is then arranged on slides to produce a
multimedia presentation. |
|

|
TechnoPhotographer:
On this day, campers become artists. Using the program PhotoFiltre, they
apply digital editing and paint tools to produce masterpieces. Sample
artwork from pop artists such as Andy Warhol, Robert Indiana, and Jasper
Johns are used to spark the imagination. Once inspired, campers transform
their digital photographs into posters, silk-screens, and billboards. The
fun continues when their name is turned into a pop art sensation. These
works of art are worthy of any museum! |
|
 |
TechnoProducer -
On this day, campers make a movie. They film the action
sequences using digital video cameras. Afterwards, they edit the footage
using specialized software. Sound effects and a theme song are then added
to the movie to create an unforgettable production. Lights! Camera!
Action! |
|
 |
TechnoCelebrity
- On this day, campers
interact with the rich and famous. The public is fascinated by movie
stars, pop idols, and sports heroes. They want to know what the person is
wearing, saying, and doing. Our young campers, go on assignment for the
e-tabloid magazine TechnoStar to report about a celebrity makeover. |
|

|
TechnoAnimal:
In this project, students create a multimedia report about an animal.
Using various resources, they gather facts about the diet, habitat,
appearance, young, and threats of their selected animal. Afterwards, these
facts are organized onto slides. Animation and transitions are applied to
the slideshow to create an interesting and informative presentation. |
|
 |
TechnoSurvivor:
On this day, campers are brought to TechnoIsland where they must out
think, out match, and out assemble their opponents. Tribes compete
in contests including Computer Trivia, Binary Code Cracker, and Computer
Rescue. The tribe to win the most rewards is granted the title
TechnoSurvivor! |
|
 |
TechnoOlympics: On this
day, campers participate in the TechnoOlympics. They proudly represent
their country in the events TechnoGymnastics, Internet Hurdles, and
Graphic Relay. Striving to win the gold they must prove they can be
faster, higher, and stronger than their competitors. Let the Olympic
spirit shine! |
|
 |
TechnoWeb:
Assume the role of a webmaster. Embark on a
fantastic journey of the World Wide Web. Microsoft Internet Explorer is
the vehicle used to search the archives of the Internet. First stop is an
introduction of the WWW and techniques that help you “surf the net”. Then
you begin gathering images, animations and information for a personal web
page. The journey concludes as you put it all together in the form of an
interactive web site. |
|
 |
TechnoPirate:
It is time to search for treasure! Suit up
as your favorite pirate, by creating a hat, eye patch, and parrot that
perches on your shoulder. Team up for booty as your crew sails the seven
seas in search of the Queen’s lost treasures on the Internet. Then follow
a treasure map to find hidden treasure hidden in the computer lab. Can you
find where “X” marks the spot? |
|
 |
TechnoSolve:
It is time to put your thinking cap on and
use your brainpower to TechnoSolve! Make a maze that bewilders,
bamboozles, and baffles fellow campers. Then produce an interactive
multiple-choice quiz about your favorite television show, celebrity or
athlete. See if your friends have the intelligence to solve these
brainteasers. |
|
 |
TechnoArt:
Campers stretch the limits of their imagination by producing fabulous
pieces of artwork using the power of technology. Paintings by famous
artists in the styles of Cubism, De Stijl, and Impressionism are the fuel
for igniting campers to produce their own art style. Each original
artwork is hung in a Techno gallery right beside those painted by renowned
artists. |
|
 |
TechnoConcert:
Campers promote an upcoming concert tour,
with a star-studded lineup that includes all their favorite bands. Sound
clips, interview with fans, and information about the bands are combined
into an exciting promotion piece. This fabulous advertisement is sure to
generate excitement about this once in a lifetime event. |
|
 |
TechnoThink:
Campers put on their thinking caps to create some brainteasers that are
sure to challenge their friends. Using Microsoft Excel they are introduced
to a spreadsheet environment by playing, You Found my X-Cell. They apply
their new-found knowledge to create a word search. The fun continues when
campers produce a mad lib, which are funny stories that are spontaneously
made up with an unexpected result. To complete the day a quiz is developed
using simple if-then statements that immediately tells the respondent
whether they are correct or need to try again. |
